
Dr. Yujing Lu, based in Cheltenham, is an award-winning educator and the 2019 UK Outstanding Chinese Teacher. As an official examiner for Pearson Edexcel GCSE and A-level Chinese, she provides students with professional guidance and an insider’s perspective on achieving exam success.
Yujing completed her MA and PhD at Applied Linguistics for Language Teaching at the university of Southampton. She holds the certificate of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, and has been teaching since 2013 in the UK. She has taught in a variety of places including British independent schools and Confucius Institute supported Chinese classes. She has also advanced to the role of Headteacher after years of teaching at a local Chinese school, bringing experience in both classroom teaching and school leadership.
Alongside her teaching, Yujing has actively contributed to Chinese cultural events across the UK, serving as an MC for numerous events in Southampton, including the 10th anniversary celebration of the Confucius Institute and several UK Chinese New Year celebrations. She also serves as a recommended interpreter for official events, supporting visits by Chinese university Vice-Chancellors to the UK for tours and training programmes.
Yujing is also a professional calligrapher. She is the student of Chinese prestigious calligrapher Yajun Wang and has been professional taught Chinese calligraphy since she was 5 in China. She has received numerous awards and honors in national and international Chinese calligraphy competitions.
Since 2019, Yujing has been a co-founder and Chinese–English curriculum developer at a start-up EdTech company, where she leads the language team and oversees the design and development of curricula tailored to learners with diverse backgrounds and needs. The platform integrates gamification and AI technologies to support innovative language learning. She writes, digitises, and quality-assures language learning materials for online platforms, collaborating closely with academic and technical teams in both the UK and China.
Currently, in addition to her role as an Academic English lecturer, she is a dedicated cultural educator, providing expert Chinese tuition online across the UK and in person in Cheltenham. Specializing in GCSE and A-level exam preparation, she delivers engaging language programs and immersive workshops that foster both academic success and a deeper understanding of Chinese culture for students of all ages and lifelong learners.
